The manufacturer recommendations for all of our wallpapers is to apply to a clean, dry, smooth wall surface free of irregularities and damage and/or flaking paint, including removal of hooks/nails and filling/sanding any residual holes.
Lightly sanding the wall to ensure a smooth surface, followed by an application of a quality wall primer such as ‘Viponds self adhesive prep coat’ is highly encouraged for ensured even application & adhesion of your wallpaper. Please remember to allow at least 24 hours for your prep coat/s to cure prior to attempting wallpaper or decal installation (refer to the manufacturers instructions for their recommended timeframe).
Phototex Peel & Stick wallpaper application is not advisable for paints described as ‘Washable’, Teflon based, ‘Wash and Wear’ and/or paints with added surfactants. These paints are not compatible as the added ‘washable’ surfactants will repel and interfere with the adhesives in the wallpaper, which can result in bubbling and/or preventing the wallpaper sticking properly. If you are at all in doubt of your paint type/suitability, preparing your wall following the above steps will ensure best results.
Please note: Failure to, or improperly preparing your walls may affect wallpaper finish or cause damage during removal. Although all wallpapers are designed to be removable, due to the variations in conditions and environmental factors such as paint quality & wall preparation we cannot guarantee or be held responsible for a damage-free application and/or removal in every case. Although following all of the above steps will dramatically reduce the chances of this occurring, in rare cases it is possible for damage to occur to walls, cornice or wall joins but again is dependent of a wide array of variables such as paint type/quality.
